How much do you know about containers?

Hi guys how it was your week? We hope it was very good.

Today we are going to talk about containers, containers, and… More containers, yes.
We want to inform you about how many types of containers we have in the maritime sector (we are not going to talk about trash containers, don’t worry).

Containers are the most integral part of the entire maritime sector, trade and transport. They are the structures that store various types of products that need to be sent from one part of the world to another.

In the last classes from Oscar Boluda, we did a long exercise about this subject. And now we are going to talk more about it.

We studied 8 different types:
  • Dry Van: Sealed and unventilated
  • Reefer: have a system for keeping cold or heat
  • Open Top: open at the top
  • Flat Rack: lack sidewalls and sometimes the front and rear
  • Super-Rack container: similar in use as a Flat Rack container but with a BIG difference. The difference is that in a Super Rack container, the corner posts can be extended upwards to increase the height. This is most useful when you have Overhigh cargo.
  • Open Side: open on one side
  • Tank or cistern: To transport bulk liquid
  • Flexi-Tank: Also for transporting bulk liquid, but is a Dry Van container inside which a flexible reservoir single use called fixed flexi-bag.
(If you want to know more about it, just click in this link)
